This is my first bold step: I will be stepping down from my current HVAC design job at the end of the week, and I will begin following some of the steps I think need to be successful at what I want to do. My first task; to virtually attend each of the 26 lectures of Introduction to Game Theory from Yale’s Open Courses.

I’ve read quite a bit about starting a business in the past three years, and I feel I know what I need to know. This couldn’t have happened sooner.

Here’s the first lecture:

Hugh Macleod draws comics on the back of business cards. They are usually about marketing, and creativity and are usually crude, unlike this one. The Canadian release of his book, Ignore Everybody, And 39 Other Keys To Creativity, is on June 16th.

You know, you could just order it and another book or two with barely a pinch to your wallet, if you were to win The AndrewShouts Mindblowing Quiz Contest. So far, not a single ballot has been awarded, as nobody has gotten all the key questions right. So if you are to get the Key questions and 6 other answers, you’ll have wicked odds of winning.

I pre-ordered a book recently featured on The Daily Show, called Imagining India: The Idea of a Renewed Nation. The author really impressed me with his ideas, and the reviews I read on American sites make it seem all that much better.

It’s about India’s future. With it’s massive (and young) population, the nation has incredible potential to become an even greater one. Written by a close friend of Thomas Friedman, one of my favorite New York Times columnists, and co-founder of a huge tech company, Mr. Nilekani is pushing for effective grassroots change. Education and health being paramount in producing a massive amount of a contributing populace. Basically, I like what I think his conclusions are, so I’m going to read the book. Now that’s being unbiased and open-minded!

Oh, I also ordered Outliers so I could get free shipping. If you haven’t checked out any of Malcom Gladwell’s books, I suggest you do so.
