Since my last rant about the Olympics, (that has Canadian police possibly fining and jailing Canadian citizens for protesting the disgusting treatment of the homeless, not to mention the mountain of debt), I had heard about other violations of free speech.
Amy Goodman is a well-known reporter in alternative news. A shit-disturber, so to speak. Regardless, she was going to Vancouver to give a talk about healthcare, and Canadian border guards clearly mistreated her on the grounds that she was possibly speaking against the olympics.
I don’t care if you’re pro or against the olympics; this is fucking disgusting.
have some self respect guys, and dont let a few rich people who are fretting about their profits take your constitutional rights away. just because they couldnt predict the greed-caused credit crisis of 2008 and messed up their business plans, does NOT give them the right to do this to you with their influence in legislative assemblies. do something.
i spent the afternoon demonstrating 2000 strong downtown, to get rid of tuition again. we blocked many major streets, made ourselves heard resoundingly at the head office of the university, the local office of the party that brought back tuition to germany, and all major downtown areas, and continued the wednesday-demo tradition. and this many ppl made it despite the demo details only being announced 24h earlier.
we also illegally blockaded the local office of the state government (like a province), and charged the riot police line successfully, got through.

I cannot even believe this. On top of kicking the homeless out of the city and censorship, as well as the shit that is going on with the women’s ski jump (which they are taking to the supreme court), now they are man-handling anyone who may potentially say something negative about the Olympics.
I am becoming increasingly ashamed of my Country. Shape up.
