Five years ago, I would have read this CBC article, or this story from the Toronto Star and completely agreed with the decision of Canada’s Immigration Minister, Jason Kennedy. The Minister has barred George Galloway, a British MP, from entering Canada, on the grounds that :
Kenney’s office said the 54-year-old Scot has expressed sympathy for the Taliban in Afghanistan and provided financial aid to the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
To which I would have definitely said “Fuck yeah, man”, especially with the recent growth of radical Islam in the UK. But in the past years, I’ve learned to keep exploring. I came upon a story in The Guardian, a well-respected publication, written by Galloway himself, in response to the allegations. Now I’m in limbo because I don’t know what is right or wrong in this case anymore.
That’s when it all clicks again : No such story is simply black and white.

Bam! Exactly right: there are always two sides to every story…
I’ve been accused of being a relativist (ie. right and wrong are always contextual), which may true – I’m still thinking about it. Still, there are folks who want to portray situations in simple terms of Good vs Evil, Right vs Wrong.
THEY are the ones who shouldn’t be trusted. Give me a child molester, and I’ll give you a guy who was himself molested as a child (for example)
